Yes. Standard countertop microwaves can be used as long as they are at least 2½″ shorter than the cabinet cutout to allow proper ventilation.

Yes. All microwave trim kits include venting. Options may include a front-vented design or a solid front with vents at the top and bottom.

They are side fillers used when replacing a 36″ over-the-range microwave with a 30″ model, filling the side gaps for a finished appearance.

Yes. All microwave trim kits include metal support runners to center the microwave vertically.

Generally no. Because sizes differ between appliances, trim kits are not reusable. Aluminum kits may sometimes be modified; stainless kits cannot.

Yes. A box-style trim can be fabricated with a minimum added height of ½″. Wood framing inside is still required for support.

Yes. Cooktop trim kits work with all three types.

No. Trim kits are cosmetic only. Proper wood framing or cabinet support is required under the cooktop.

Most homeowners don’t install oven trim kits themselves because the oven’s weight and installation requirements can make it difficult. However, oven fillers are simple to install — the oven is typically already in place before the filler is added, so there’s no heavy lifting involved.

Aluminum fillers are 7/16″ thick. Stainless fillers range from 7/8″ to 1½″+ thick depending on profile.

The only exception is our microwave trim kits, which include support runners to hold the microwave in place. All other large or built-in appliances must be fully supported by the cabinetry or installation structure.
